چکیده

The results of damage to the heart from indirect violence have aroused a good deal of interest in recent years, for in many cases modern methods of investigation have increased the possibilities of diagnosis. The account of this unusual case seems worthy of record. A young man of nineteen years had a head-on collision with a lorry when driving a motor car. He was thrown forcibly against the steering wheel and hurt the front of his chest. Breathing was rather painful, but no b6nes were broken. He was in hospital for a fortnight. No cardiac murmur was noted. On returning home later he was examined by his family doctor and a murmur was heard. He was then referred for further examination. Three months before the accident he had been passed by a medical board for the R.A.F.

Traumatic heart block.

Trauma to the chest may result in rupture of the interventricular septum (Cary, Hurst, and Arentzen, 1958). Disturbances of conduction, including complete heart block, may follow (Dolara, 1964), or they may arise in the presence of an intact septum (Levine, Roberts, and Morrow, 1962). In the case to be reported, non-penetrating trauma produced structural cardiac damage, associated with the deve...

Traumatic rupture of interventricular septum proved by cardiac catheterization.

RUPTURE of the interventricular septum due to trauma is a rare phenomenon, according to Pollock, Markelz and Shuey,1 who reviewed all the reported cases up to 1952 and found a total of 12 proven traumatic interventricular defects. This report concerns a patient who developed an interventricular septal defect following severe trauma to the chest that was proven by cardiac catheterization. CASE R...

Rare case of squamous cell carcinoma of buccal mucosa metastasizing to interventricular septum in a young adult detected by 18F-FDG PET-CT

Metastatic tumors to the heart unlike primary cardiac tumors are not rare. Despite its frequency, cardiac metastasis is commonly detected only during autopsy as the symptoms of disseminated metastasis prevail over symptoms caused by cardiac metastasis and hence is overlooked most of the time. Tumors more commonly found metastasizing to the heart are malignancies of lung, breast, esophagus, lymp...

Rupture of the Infarcted Interventricular Septum

R UPTURE of the interventricular septum, one of the most dramatic complications of myocardial infaretion, has become a wellrecognized clinical entity that is readily confirmed by cardiac catheterization. Since the usual course is that of rapid deterioration and early death, surgical repair of the defect is indicated once the diagnosis has been established. The medical literature contains only a...

A Case of Right Sinus of Valsalva Rupture with Dissection into Interventricular Septum Causing Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) is an uncommon anomaly of the aorta. Rupture of SVA often precipitates dramatic clinical complications, including heart failures. Right SVAs are the most common type, and when they rupture, they usually rupture into the right ventricle or right atrium. Rupture into left ventricle or interventricular septum is rare. Herein, we report a case of right SVA rupture w...
